Wednesday, April 30, 2025 - Meghan Markle sparked a row by appearing to use her HRH title on a card sent to a friend in a gift basket despite her and Prince Harry saying they would no longer use the style, and now Meghan's camp have responded.

Both Meghan and Prince Harry gave up their HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles when they stepped down as senior royals in March 2020 following an agreement with the late Queen Elizabeth.

However, in a new podcast interview, a picture is shown of a gift card Meghan sent to a friend that read: "with the compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex".

Jamie said the basket containing homemade strawberry sauce and ice cream was sent to her home by Meghan "about a year ago… to see if that helps lighten my load" along with the card.

Harry and Meghan’s agreement with the late Queen and senior officials was that they would stop using the word "Royal" after their exit as working royals.

The couple even wrote on their official website at the time: "As agreed and set out in January, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will retain their 'HRH' prefix, thereby formally remaining known as His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer actively use their HRH titles as they will no longer be working members of the family as of Spring 2020."

However, after Meghan recently signed a card with HRH, it sparked outrage.

A spokesman for the Sussexes has now denied that Meghan uses the title Her Royal Highness for commercial purposes.

Meghan's representatives suggested to the Daily Mail that the image shared on the podcast by Jamie Kern Lima had been taken before Meghan's new business 'As Ever' was launched.

They claim that they do not use the HRH title publicly even though their titles remain.

However, as the picture shared by Jamie hints, they still use the title with friends and in personal correspondence.
