Friday, May 29, 2026 - Championship side Millwall have reportedly rejected a fresh £20 million bid from newly promoted Premier League club Ipswich Town for their standout forward, Femi Azeez.
The Tractor Boys are eager to bring the attacker to Suffolk,
but the Lions are holding out for a fee closer to £30 million for their star
player.
Azeez is coming off a sensational breakthrough campaign with
Millwall, where he registered 11 goals and 8 assists across 35 Championship
appearances.
His clinical performances on the right flank, frequently
cutting inside onto his preferred left foot—guided Millwall to a third-place
finish before their promotion bid was halted by Hull City in the play-off
semi-finals.
The 24-year-old’s market value has climbed even higher
following a dream international debut for Nigeria on Tuesday. Having recently
committed his international future to the Super Eagles over England, Azeez
scored both goals in a 2-0 victory against Zimbabwe during the semi-finals of
the Unity Cup at The Valley in London, becoming the first Nigerian player this
millennium to net a brace on his senior debut.
Ipswich Town initially tested Millwall’s resolve during the
January transfer window with a bid hovering around £15 million, which would
have broken Millwall's club-record sale.
While local media initially indicated that manager Kieran
McKenna might look elsewhere to avoid over-relying on Championship talent for
their top-flight return, Ipswich’s stance has clearly shifted following Azeez's
recent international exploits.
With Azeez locked into a contract at The Den until the
summer of 2028, Millwall remain in a commanding negotiating position.
If Ipswich intend to secure his services before the summer
window closes, they will likely need to meet the Lions' steep £30 million
valuation. Azeez is expected to line up for the Super Eagles this Saturday as
they face Jamaica in the Unity Cup final.
