GARY LINEKER apologises to LAURA WOODS as ITV's World Cup coverage brought to a halt

Sunday, June 21, 2026- Gary Lineker issued a public apology to broadcaster Laura Woods after an unexpected disruption brought ITV’s World Cup coverage to a sudden halt.

The incident occurred during a live broadcast, forcing producers to pause scheduled programming as technical and on-air coordination issues briefly affected the live studio segment.

The interruption created a moment of confusion for viewers as presenters attempted to manage the breakdown in real time.

Lineker, who was part of the broadcast team, addressed the situation directly and later apologised to Woods, acknowledging the disruption and any awkwardness caused during the live exchange. Woods responded professionally on air, helping steer the coverage back on track once the issue was resolved.

Despite the temporary setback, ITV resumed its World Cup programming shortly after, with normal coverage continuing as planned.

The incident highlights the unpredictable nature of live sports broadcasting, where fast-paced production environments can occasionally lead to unscripted interruptions. Viewers quickly returned to the action as the network stabilized its feed and continued its tournament coverage.
