NETANYAHU to convene Security Cabinet following renewed airstrikes with Iran

Monday, June 8, 2026- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to convene the Security Cabinet in response to renewed military exchanges with Iran, as tensions across the region continue to escalate and both sides report fresh strikes and missile activity.

The meeting is expected to bring together top defense and security officials to assess the latest developments and determine Israel’s next steps amid rapidly shifting battlefield conditions.

The move comes after a new wave of Iranian missile launches triggered air-raid sirens across central and southern Israel, while Israel reportedly carried out additional strikes on targets inside Iran, including industrial and military-linked infrastructure.

The cycle of attacks has intensified fears of a broader regional conflict, with both countries increasingly engaging in direct, rather than proxy, confrontations.

Recent reports indicate that Netanyahu has also described the situation as temporarily contained, while warning that Israel will respond forcefully if Iran resumes attacks.

Despite signals of partial de-escalation, the Security Cabinet meeting highlights how fragile the current pause remains, with both military readiness and political pressure shaping decisions on the next phase of the confrontation.
