Congo says number of confirmed Ebola cases rises to 1,502

Friday, June 3, 2026- Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo have confirmed that Ebola cases have risen to 1,502, signaling a continued escalation of the outbreak as containment efforts struggle to keep pace.

Officials say new infections are still being detected across multiple provinces, raising concerns about sustained community transmission despite ongoing response measures.

Emergency health teams, supported by international partners, are intensifying vaccination campaigns, contact tracing, and treatment efforts in affected regions.

However, logistical challenges, limited healthcare access in remote areas, and ongoing population movement are complicating containment strategies. Medical responders warn that delays in reporting and treatment remain a major factor driving continued spread.

Global health agencies are urging increased funding and coordination to prevent further escalation, emphasizing that rapid isolation and vaccination are critical to controlling the outbreak.

While progress has been made in some hotspots, officials caution that the situation remains fragile and requires sustained international support to bring transmission under control.
