Wednesday, September 30, 2026 - Casualty star Rebekah Gibbs faced a devastating diagnosis shortly after becoming a mother. Gibbs, who played paramedic Nina Farr in the BBC medical drama, was 35 when doctors diagnosed her with aggressive grade-three breast cancer.
The diagnosis came just weeks after she welcomed her daughter, Gigi, turning what should have been a joyful new chapter into an urgent fight for her life.
Gibbs had reportedly discovered a lump while pregnant, but the seriousness of her condition only became clear after further medical examinations. She went on to undergo a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy while caring for her newborn daughter.
Her battle later became more complicated, and she continued to speak publicly about her experience and the impact the illness had on her family.
