Former child star DAVEIGH CHASE’s cause of death revealed after mom says she was ‘drugged out of her mind’



Monday, June 29, 2026- The official cause of death for former child star Daveigh Chase has been revealed, weeks after her mother shared emotional details about the actress's battle with addiction. 

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, the Lilo & Stitch and The Ring star died from acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), with chronic polysubstance use listed as a significant contributing factor. Her death was ruled to be from natural causes.

Earlier, Chase's mother said the actress became addicted to prescription painkillers following a serious back injury and later struggled with homelessness and substance use. 

She described seeing her daughter in her final years as "drugged out of her mind" and said addiction had completely changed her life. The family's account has renewed conversations about the long-term impact of addiction and the challenges many people face in accessing effective treatment and support.

Daveigh Chase rose to fame through memorable roles in Lilo & Stitch, The Ring, and Donnie Darko, earning praise for her talent from an early age.
