Sunday, August 23, 2026 - Suge Knight has made a startling claim about what happened to some of Tupac Shakur’s remains after the rapper’s death.
In a resurfaced account that is now attracting renewed attention amid the ongoing trial over Tupac’s 1996 killing, Knight alleges that some of Tupac’s cremated ashes were rolled into a blunt and smoked by people close to him. Knight said he did not participate because he was on probation at the time.
According to Knight, Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, wanted her son cremated quickly after his death, and Knight claims he helped arrange the immediate cremation.
He further alleged that a bag containing some of the ashes was later passed around among Tupac’s friends and relatives as a symbolic way of keeping part of the rapper with them. However, the claim has not been independently confirmed, and Knight has not publicly provided evidence identifying everyone who allegedly took part.
The extraordinary revelation is emerging as renewed attention surrounds Tupac’s death, with Duane “Keffe D” Davis currently on trial in Las Vegas for allegedly orchestrating the fatal shooting.
Davis has pleaded not guilty, while prosecutors are presenting his past statements as evidence and the defense is challenging his credibility. Nearly 30 years later, Knight’s latest account is adding another sensational layer to one of hip-hop’s most closely scrutinized cases—but it remains a claim, not an established fact.
