WIDDECOMBE murder suspect charged with planning terror act on NIGEL FARAGE

Sunday, October 4, 2026 - The man accused of murdering former minister and Reform UK figure Ann Widdecombe has now been charged with preparing acts of terrorism, including activity allegedly targeting Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

Joshua Kerry, 28, from Rotherham, was charged on October 2 with one count of preparation of terrorist acts, relating to alleged activity between May 31, 2024 and July 8, 2026. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 7.

The development adds a serious new dimension to a case that has already shaken British politics. Kerry is separately accused of murdering Ann Widdecombe, who died in July after suffering fatal injuries at her home in Devon.

Counter Terrorism Policing said the terrorism charge followed a “hugely intensive and complex investigation”, while the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed prosecutors had reviewed the evidence before authorising the case.

The allegations are also likely to intensify scrutiny of security arrangements for politicians and other public figures.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the latest charge raises serious questions about the protection of people in public life, while Counter Terrorism Policing stressed that its investigation remains ongoing. The allegations against Kerry have not been proven in court, and he remains entitled to a fair trial.
